For tens of thousands of years we have harnessed the power of fire to harden clay, soften metal and change the very state of sand in order to create objects of both useful function and incredible beauty. It can be argued that these techniques and objects have been critical in the development of human society. In celebration of this history, Valley Art Center is excited to invite artists working in clay, metal, and glass to an exhibit of functional pieces to be on display Summer of 2020. 
3D artists from the Chagrin Valley to around the world are invited to submit their work in Clay, Glass, and Metal. Artists may submit up to three pieces for this exhibit. Functional work will be prioritized during jurying. 
 
Entry deadline 4 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2020. 

Entry Fee: $15 a piece, up to three (3) pieces per artist
For this exhibit, all pieces must be offered for sale (no NFS)

What you will need

  • One digital image of each art piece, up to three submissions. These must be good photographs of the actual, original art work you want to enter to potentially exhibit. We recommend 3d artists submit a single photomosaic image for each submitted piece featuring multiple views of each submitted piece in a single image.
  • Digital images must be saved in the JPG (JPEG) file format.
  • Your pictures should be no smaller than 960 pixels and no larger than 4600 pixels on the longest side.
  • They should be no bigger than 4 Mb in file size.
  • Please make sure you are settled on titles, medium descriptions and prices. The way you identify yourself and your work in the submission form is what we utilize when we present your information on art labels and in program listings. Valley Art Center is not responsible for misspellings or incorrect information arising from inaccurately entered information.

Entering artwork submissions
After logging in or creating a new account, you will Add a new submission. You will fill out the form with Category, Title, Dimensions (height, width, and depth), Sale price (all work entered must be for sale for this exhibit), and Medium for your first artwork submission. You will then pay your entry fee and upload an Attachment that is the photo of your artwork. If you would like to enter more than one work of art, please upload and pay for each entry separately.

    • CTE deadline, June 5, 2020 at 4 p.m.
    • Notification of jury results; Tuesday, June 9, 2020 by 4 pm. Please do not call or email VAC for results.
  • Artwork delivery
    • Shipping—please plan for shipped art to arrive by June 13, 2020 or earlier and include a prepaid return shipping label inside your package.
    • Friday drop off, June 12, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
    • Saturday drop off, June 13, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
  • Event dates
    • Exhibit opens, June 26, 2020
    • Artist reception, June 26, 6–8 p.m - Cancelled
    • Exhibit closes, August 5, 2020
  • Artwork pick up
    • Return shipping, ASAP after close of exhibit
    • Friday pick up, August 7, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
